16 Presidents

During the month of February, there will be 16 short canons written for 16 different presidents setting to song their words of wisdom. The first one came out today. Check it out here. Check out the story of its origin and inception. Read it here. Listen to the creators words here. Watch for the other 15 songs that will come out during this month that we celebrate Presidents of the United States.

This blog is really cool. New and exiting things about the world of music are presented here. Music nerds may think its more interesting.... I liked it.

Now

I would like to share a journal entry from a few days ago.

Colin and I love living in our little house. It's small and hard to keep clean due to low storage space. Sometimes I feel like things are spilling out of everywhere! Every once in a while, I'll go on craigslist or some home decor site and look and all the couches, nice beds, big bathrooms, framed mirrors. I could go on. Someday we'll have a house with storage space, non musty smelling bathroom, sittable furniture and a sleepable bed but right now I love those things. I fall to the middle of the bed at night. My butt is uncomfortable on our desk chair. Our computer is our TV. Our computer is bigger than most TVs. Dont sit on the futon too hard or it will break. We have leftover dishwasher soap from our last house because now we have no dishwasher. I have no counter space. I love these things. I love that after two weeks, I cant take it anymore and I sort and organize our closet. I love having to drag the laundry to the mat every Saturday. I love that our porch has been a sheet of ice since Thanksgiving. I love that I can never get the right sized bag for our small trash can. That our kitchen trashcan is a 5 gallon bucket. I love that our towels don't even fit in the bathroom. I love that for the first year of our marriage, our queen sized comforter was in the closet- we slept with our own blankets. We were both to stubborn to compromise. We've since wised up.

I love my life now and I hope I always will. I will always love what I am doing now. School home and husband now. Someday it will be different. But now, I am more than content.

I had a three hour presidency meeting last night again(chitchatting) then we talked for another hour. After a texts and calls from our husbands, we decided to call it a night. I got home at 11 and still had to take a test. Finally, I crawled into bed at midnight after literally going since 6am. I had only spent a half hour with Colin before my meeting. Long days are frequent nowadays. I started another one this morning at 615.

I am sitting at school at 830 after doing homework for an hour already. I finished reading about Bela Bartok's music. Someone down the hall is listening to Mozart, Gluck, Haydn and Sammartini without headphones for their listening test in Music History today. It echos through the high ceilings of the hall. There is a kid in the chair across from me who curled up in his chair and shut his eyes for a few minutes before Friday really starts. In a few minutes, classes will get out and this hall wont be quiet anymore. Soon it will be bustling with crazy kids who are in love with the organized chaos we like to call music. Before the lively noises I knew would come, I opened Sarahs new website mymatilda and listened to the music and looked at the pictures. It is renewing. I looked at Hannahs photoblog and looked at all the gorgeous pictures of my newest niece Jade.

I can make it through today.

Icebox

Yes we live in an Icebox.

This morning, I woke up like normal. I looked up the weather. It was -20 degrees. Why? Why does this have to happen? It makes everything that has to do with outside so uncomfortable.

So we bundled up and started our day. The first two seconds outside aren't so bad. It's just cold. But during and after the third second, the cold seeps into your skin and steals every ounce of moisture.

You can't breathe in very much because it hurts your chest. If you breathe through your nose, your buggers freeze.

You start to get a runny nose, it drips out the end of your nose, and you have a mini self-made icicle all to yourself off the tip of your nose.

You have to blink more because most of your eye moisture is sucked out and whats left gets frosty.

Exposed skin is painful and takes forever to warm back up.

If your ears get too cold, your brain hurts. And can lead to a headache.

We got home from school and Colin tried to wash his hands... no water came out. Uhhh....
Our pipes froze. Our landlord didnt get home for an hour. We couldnt make dinner either.
We ended up having to put a hair dryer down a hole in our watercloset to thaw out the pipes. PRAY they dont bust.

What an adventurous life we live.

This weather really is Bone Chilling!
Anyone want to come visit??

Cellomania!

I found this picture that I never posted. We had a rehearsal in the new "mini conference center" at the end of last semester and it was snow/slush/raining. It was gross weather. We fit all five of these cellos and four people into our little jeep liberty. Oh ya. While loading Brennan into the back, a cop drove by... Thankfully he didnt stop. What a day. That was awesome.
