Canyon Creek

I got a text from Dad saying he's keeping up the Memorial Day weekend tradition and taking the kids to Canyon Creek. After looking for pictures from trips I had been on I found this video.

Enjoy.

dishes, a fan and a field

Woke up and it was a normal Friday. Slept in til 8 and then started cleaning the house because I don't have any classes today. Colin was a little sick last night but got up this morning and limped off to school.

Most of the dishes were done by 10 so I decided it was time to go the store. I rode my bike down the busy street to Walmart and picked up a little six dollar fan to help us sleep better. The people upstairs have a kid and keep us awake sometimes. I thought a fan might be a good noise maker.

Ok moving on.

On my way back I took a different route I had never taken before. It was a little path along the South Fork of the Teton River. There were some businesses close by but it was nicer than the busy street. The path let out onto a back road that went by some fields. It was suddenly gorgeous. I stopped by a fence next to a little patch of yellow flowers and a canal. For some reason it hit me and I just took a deep breath. I miss being outside, tasting the air and feeling the wind(and believe me I felt plenty of wind today).

It was a little moment but it was oh so nice. I think my little detour on the way home added about a mile to my trip but it was totally worth it.

(Not edited. Taken with my phone. I love having a little camera on the go.)

Today

Today was a special day.

I rode by bike to school in the rain.
I fell asleep in a chair at school for a power nap.
I conducted a cello sectional.
But that's not why.

I competed for the high score on an iphone game with Colin and I should have won.
I had a craving for rice and made it for dinner.
Colin did all the dishes. ALL the dishes.
But that's not why.

I had a cello lesson today.
I had my hair down all day. Well almost.
I didnt wear makeup.
But that's not why.

I tried to conduct Beethovens fifth.
I wore Argyle socks with flats.
I had an apple for lunch.
But that's not why.

Two years ago, Colin asked me to marry him.
I said yes.

Best decision ever.

Thats why today was special.

Dive

Some funny things that jar happened lately-

Last night when we were cleaning up our room and getting ready for bed, Colin said, "Our room is big enough to do this!!!" I turned around just in time to see his body flying through the air in a swan dive onto the bed. I of course had to join in and didn't quite have as good of dorm as Colin did.

The day we moved in, Colin was really excited to go for a in around the park that is across the street. He came back from his run and plopped down at the computer to check his email. About 30 seconds later, he came into the kitchen looking at his shirt with a look of disgust and said, "A bird pooped on me while I was running and I didn't even notice!!!" And it was most definitely bird poop. He tried wiping it off and ended up smearing it more on his shirt.

There are little things that happen everyday that I wish I could write down. Life goes too fast.

We moved!

Our last sunrise over Ricks Farm Hill from our six month home in the little house by the Jensens.

And this is the new place!

A yellow kitchen. Could it get any better?
Yes. An orange rug.

A new knick knack shelf I made out of an old tray I had been using in my bathroom drawer.

A new start at a new place! Moving is always such an adventure. I packed up the house with a few wonderful ladies in my ward Friday and then we moved saturday thanks to the help of our Home teachers, and Spencer, Daniel, and Ryan. And thank you to Angela for dinner. Colin asked me to get the recipe from you for that spaghetti. He liked it more than mine!

We are now located in a basement apartment with a shared washer and dryer(no more laundrymat) right across the street from a park and only three blocks from school. Our bikes are going to get a lot more attention now. its naturally cool which is great because we dont have air conditioning down here! Thanks to everyone that helped us move.

Come visit us!

And can I just put in a plug for my iphone? Most of the pictures I have been posting lately have been from my iphone camera... ya. Pretty sweet. Mom, you should get one. Seriously. I would send you picture texts and you would be able to see them because your screen would be HUGE.

Just sayin'.

Dad

Dad. There is so much I could say about you. You are everything.

I was talking to you on the phone the other night right after the sun had gone over the horizon. You said you were in the front yard leaning up against the ol' Volvo. The moon was out and told me to check it out. I stepped outside and looked to the west to see a sliver of the moon. It was "pretty cool lookin" as you had said. You said, "Isn't it amazing that we are looking at the same moon right now?" I was a thousand miles away but you and I were looking at the moon together. We spotted a few constellations together as well. The tears welled. I miss sitting in the back yard, on the beach, on a mountain top in the wee hours of the morning, or by a lake in the mountains and listening to you admire everything around you. Your favorite primary song is "Whenever I hear the song of a bird or walk by a lilac tree." I love your admiration of the earth and its gifts to us.

I love your hands. They are so big and strong. They are confident. They have seen so much of the world. They surf. They plant daffodils. They climb mountains. They pull your glasses out of your shirt pocket. They fed your kids for 25 years by being covered in grease and cuts from fixing cars. They held each of us. They blessed us every year before starting school. They have always been there to hug me. They hold mom. I can not wait to someday put my children in those wonderful, beautiful hands.

I love you Dad. Happy Birthday. You're 55 years young.
